Remineralization

Your teeth, mouth and jaw are imperative pieces of the body and provide a living assessment and outline for your overall health. In blatant terms, if your mouth (including your breath) is not looking the best, you really should consider getting an assessment by a trained practitioner as often more is happening behind the scenes then what is known.

Your mouth is a host of up to 700 different microbes-that is approximately 6 million different bacteria. We are talking about fungus, bacteria and other pathogens at any given time. The issue is not about this mix necessarily, but more about acid from the bad bacteria mixing with the other microbes. This can cause erosion of the teeth among other health issues in the body.

These microbes can spread beyond the mouth and feed on deficiencies in the body contributing to chronic disease. Other more well known pathogens like SIBO (small intestinal Bacteria overgrowth), H.Pylori, Candida, Gingivitis, Streptococcus, Salmonella, Shigella, just to name a few, are also linked to oral health, or at times, lack of effective oral hygiene.  We also need to consider autoimmune diseases caused by pathogens, heart health connection to oral health, kidney or liver health (really all your organs) and neurological well being. Even something like Pneumonia, which can be linked to gum disease can be a result of your oral health. Your teeth, mouth and jaw really do affect everything and is a reflection of what is happening everywhere in the body.

Some of the best ways to improve your teeth and vitality, are listed below. I will mention though, that my favourite is through Cell Salts or Minerals. Not only do they help re-establish your teeth, but they also assist in providing nutrients on a cellular level to your body. Think about long term benefits and prevention!

 *Homemade toothpaste (toothpowder)

  • Tooth powder

  • Calcium Bentonite Clay-1 cup

  • Hydroxyapatite-3/4 cup

  • Kanolin clay-1/2 cup

  • Baking soda-1/4 cup

  • Pearl Powder- 1/8 cup

  • Crushed minerals-1/4 cup (Silica, Calcium Fluoride, Calcium Carbonate, Calcium Sulph, Calcium Phos, Mag. Phos)

  • As an option you can use this powder recipe and make this into a toothpaste with a base of tallow (rendered ) or Coconut oil

  • **It is recommended that you spit in a garbage can not the sink as over time the ingredients can get congealed in the drain.

*Copper Tongue Scraper

*Oil pulling-coconut oil is my recommendation

*Eat a diet free from grains (not just gluten free), soy, sugar (as much as possible), and corn

*Eat healthy fats-Hormone D, Vit A, Vit K2 from food sources not supplements. Think Cod liver oil, Bone broths, Butter, Ghee, MCT oil, Coconut oil. This is important as the whiteness in your teeth actually comes from the Dentin underneath!

*On occasion, not continuous use of herbals such as: dandelion root, nettle, red raspberry, Milk thistle, Sea buckthorn, horsetail, alfalfa, oat straw, Spirulina, Chlorella, marshmallow root, slippery elm, goldenseal, and Neem. Remember if we have a healthy gut and microbiom, this will in turn help our teeth and vica versa.

*Filtered water-spend some time getting your water tested properly then decide options for your water supply, not just drinking water. This will make a big difference not only to your teeth. I do not believe that we need to have reverse osmosis and take out all minerals. I do believe that we need to filter out pathogens, organics and things like chlorine, fluoride etc.

*Include occasionally a probiotic such as Sacchomyrces boulardii, or Raw Kefir

*Keep your toothbrushes away from others and make sure you put your toothbrushes in a drawer or out of the line of fire from a toilet! Also consider putting your toothbrush in a solution of Hydrogen Peroxide (make sure it is food grade) to soak overnight and rinse well in the morning a couple times a week.

These are just a few of the things that you will find make a difference in your teeth health for you and your loved ones. Most importantly, make small changes where you can.

*One last note, please consult a practitioner before adding in herbs as there may be some contraindications that you are not aware of.
